LACMA Online Museum Collection and pics
Evenin Folks

This just scotted past my email and figured some here would need to send a few hours down loading pics into the catch of enormous size that some day you are going to sort and categorize

It is nice to see museums doing this as I believe it will only increase interest in their collections and improve attendance.

Here is their blurb.

"Currently available online are 69 high resolution images from the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. (see "Collections Online" LACMA . The arms and armor images range from 3000 BCE to 20th century Egypt, Japan and include such highlights as samurai long swords. Many of these arms and armor pieces have never been exhibited or published before. Descriptions of the arms and armor are included. The images can be downloaded, printed, emailed or compared and contrasted with one another on the website's "image viewer" free of charge.
Where on that vast site is that stuff?
I found some A&A stuff in the Special Holdings /Showroom Treasures area !
(mainly Japanese swords)

It's odd that they'd put out a press release for arms and armor stuff, but they don't have a section especially for that. That's not very organized, IMHO.

I did find 61 items by doing a search: (You know it's a bad site when you have to use the search tool to find the thing you need...)

Follow this link to view all arms and armor related items
Yea the site is a pain. It is in fact so bad I could hardly get it to work on my antiquated browser. I have been having the same problem with a lot of museum websites lately.

I did find arms & armor listed some place on there, don't remeber where but it was in some place I did not expect to find it. As Nathan said if you have to use the search to find a catagory you are already in trouble :)
