can any one tell me anything about this sword?
i think it's prussian but i really don't know and i just picked up two of them. red jewels in the eyes of the lions look to be real stones not glass.

Craig, at a guess i'd say German WWI or before and based on the crossed cannons on the rain guard plates of the hilt and that you didn't mentione the blade being marked, it was issued to artillery crews and non commisioned officers rather than officers.

It is very similar to Prussian sabers, late XIX – beginning of XX. But I checked in my catalogue and despite of the great similarity, always found small differences. It is German without any doubt but you have to find out about the country (several German countries preserved its symbols and difference in ammunition during the WWI).
