Thumbs up from me. I have to admit that I tend to get pretty ADD with 2 hour historical documentaries. But I actually found this quite watchable.
Constant and true.

I am encouraged to see positive feedback from you guys. This was not what I expected after our discussions on this thread the other day. I did hear some positive things from a collegue at work today, but I respect that fellow as an engineer, not as a historian (he makes no pretense in that regard). Now, I regret not having cable again. I look forward to hearing about part 2.

I'm glad to hear it turned out to be worthwhile.
Steve, I know how you feel... I could have watched it - totally uneventful, non-committed evening. Satellite is out... so I have something like 60 tv's right here, none of which work at all.
I'm sure it will air again, though...

Just got done watching pt. 2. I think my attention was more in tune here because it began with the political and psychological results of the end of the First Crusade (part 1 talked about nothing but the 1st, which made the program drag a bit I thought). Tonight they talked mostly about Louis VII and the 2nd Crusade and how much of a catastrophe it was (for the Christians anyway). The last part kinda rushed because there was only twenty minutes left and they still had to discuss King Richard and the 3rd Crusade. They told of a lot of things I didn't know about Saladin (i.e. there were plots by rival Muslims to assassinate him). Overall, very interesting. Afterward, they talked about Kingdom of Heaven in their "History or Hollywood" show which, by the way, is also on the K.O.H. dvd.

Is that a 'thumbs up'?

Of course. The practice of politics never really changes
