After the experience I had last weekend test cutting with my Jody Samson Carolingian for the first time, I would have to say that is the sword I would take to battle with me should an orc army, dragon, trolls, etc. attack. I was completely floored by the carolingian. I'd always considered Jody's swords to be more art than weapon. Boy was I wrong. The sword danced in my hand. It was perfectly balanced for it's type (single hand cutter) and melted through the targets. In short, I loved it. That sword has completely changed my ideas about what's a good weight and how much blade presence is an asset.

For the sake of argument: As the instructor in Quantico, a veteran of Hue City remarked when asked about what the best personal weapon for a Marine LT to carry said: "Grenades. LOTS of Grenades."

Plus a good M1911. Add to that a fine warhorse in reserve, and a good solid hand-and-a-half sword. (The War Horse and the Grenades don't mix well, so one before the other, needless to say...)

But if we're being serious, I'll go with what Jonathan Blair said... Cool

Well, my VBSS kit includes some pretty sweet CQB gear, but if I'm really up against ten thousand Fell Demons I'm going to run out of ammunition, Immortal Hero or not. So, for a day of brutal slaying to save All That Is Good, I'd have to go with something like an Albion Svante or perhaps a Knecht. Or something else equally sturdy and wicked of hand-and-a-half proportions. Even a katana would do, but I'd need a short sword or two as backup should my longarms eventually shatter from hacking through thick demon hide over and over again.

I hope Mithras scheduled a lunch break at some point because we're going to be there all day. Big Grin
