My wife and I used to be heavily involved in reenactment work, but we hadn't done anything in years. My tunic was a fairly simple matter and didn't take my wife long. It did tale a little tweaking here and there and much was learned in the process for future tunics. The black and red hose I'm wearing are a very old pair that are years old. I've worn them while portraying everything from a medieval knight to a german landsknecht. They'll be replaced/augmented eventually. The wool winningas (leg bindings) are a pair of repro WWI puttees that I purchased online. They were olive drab but I dyed them a darker shade of OD brown. I'm thinking of removing the trim from this tunic. It's a very cool nordic/saxon running dog pattern, but is of obvious modern manufacture. It looks neat but it bugs me :D

Believe it or not, my wife made her dress in one night. She's a pretty busy person but wanted to make a new dress for a medieval faire our local library hosted this summer. She sat down the evening before the faire and turned it into an all-night sewing session. There's still a bit of tweaking that needs to be done to the dress, but for all intents and purposes she made it in 8-9 hours.

I haven't been to the TRF in 4 years or so after going 9 years striaght! Great pics of you and the beautiful ladies. Did ya take in any of the wacky shows ( Ded Bob, Sound and Fury)? Some are really great. I was also wondering if you Greg Valentine was there . He is a quiet and soft-spoken guy but likes to talk about his work while he's working. One very cold yeay I bought him a cup of hot chocolate and we talked for some hours. I must say also Patrick that the "Big J" looked great with your costume. Fun times are fun times and I have to admit that my interest in things medieval and renaissiance wasn;t really rekindled until I attended the TRF for teh first time and discovered our odd subculture.

I was a bit toasty in all that wool but I survived.

We caught a couple of shows but that was it. The women were adamant about catching the shows, but once we arrived they were distracted by other things so we didn't see very many.

Gregg and I went by the Valentine building on our way out. I didn't know they were there until I walked by and saw the sign. Unfortunately the ladies were already waiting for us so we made a quick pass through their exhibit and that was it. There was a man working on a piece of armor and surrounded by several people. I assumed that was probably him but I didn't have time, nor did I want to disturb him.

Damn it, I usually take my vacation at the end of Oct and fly down to Houston for the last 2 weeks of the faire and to visit family. Doesnt look like i'll be able to this year due being unexpectedly unemployed...oh well
