Iron Age Celtic display at Cincinnati Celtic Fest
Hi all,

For those of you in the area, Shane Allee and myself will have a small Iron Age celtic display at the Cincinnati, OH Celtic Festival. It's this weekend, September 24 and 25.

We will have swords, spears, shields, armor and the like, and will be talking about Celtic life, society, customs, warfare and artefacts much of the day. You will be able to see some of Shane's fine work as well as some of my weapons and a few things I have made myself. I will also be recruiting for an Iron-Age Celtic Living History group I am trying to start up in the Cincinnati area.

The details on the festival itself are here: http://www.CincinnatiCelticFestival.com

Hope to maybe see a couple of you there!
We had a really great weekend and had almost constant traffic of people full of questions. Had a blast getting the kids into the mail. Looking forward to doing more events and demonstrations like this in the future, it was a very rewarding experience. I have put pictures up on a new events section of my website at http://www.ironagearmoury.com/events.htm. Here are a few highlights though.

Here is day one's layout.

Guys the presentation looks great! This is an area of history that I've had a long though somewhat minor interest in. This era is somewhat neglected by many living history types so it's nice to see people dedicated to it. I think you need a few more spears though :D

Great job!
O my!
O my! :surprised:
You guys have me drooling all over this nice stuff.
It looks indeed a verry nice display! Nathan, Shane (and others)...

Congratulations I understand the event whas a succes. Great job!
When do you guys come over to europe ;) :p

Folkert
This is really nice stuff you guys have made, Thanks! :)
Do you have any more pics of that sword and scabbard in the middle of this picture?

Thanks for the kind words, guys! We had a good time, although the combined heat and humidity nearly did us in the first day. You'll note I'm not wearing my spiffy new maille---too hot!

Folkert, I would love to get over to Europe to do one of the Pan-Celtic events, one of these days. The question is, how would we get our gear over? :?:  I need to look into that.

Patrik, the sword with the brass/bronze scabbard in made by

Manning Imperial (http://www.manningimperial.com. This is the Hod Hill sword, it's a Romano-British sword likely 1st century AD though *maybe* as early as 1st century BC. Tell them I sent ya if you inquire ;) If I had it to do over again, I probably would have supplied Craig with measurements making the blade a couple inches longer to be a bit more accurate to these later swords (that was my mistake in supplying the stats). Live and learn. Darn fine sword just as it is, though.

:)
He He, stand in the line guys and kick my butt, i think i starts to go "can't see the forrest for all forrest"
Thanks!
Thanks guys...

Oh, both of us have more spears, but they just haven't been mounted yet. Can't say that I have nearly as many as Nate though. He had probably more than a half dozen just laying around the display. The spears were one of the more popular items on display, probably more so then the swords even.
