For Sale: Rick Barrett 1075 Katana blade
This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available

This is a katana blade from my own personal collection that I need to sell. I’m moving at the end of the month and will finally be able to set up a small work area to do cutlery type of work, so I could really use the money to move on and help set up shop. What this also means is that I will not be able to put in the time to polish or mount it for a good while, so I really can’t justify keeping this around anymore when I could really use the money. Asking price is $2000, but I would consider partial trades if it would help make a sale possible and it happened to be a sword of some interest to me.

The blade is a 28 3/8” Chu kissaki, shinogi zukuri in binsuido finish. It is signed and also has the saying, “A lucky day in May, 2005” on the reverse side.

Motohaba- 1.31”
Sakihaba- 0.97”
Motokasane- 0.29”
Sakikasane- 0.23”
Sori is about 3/8”

I will pay shipping to the lower 48 states, anyone outside of there we can work something out. If you intend to have further work done on it and want it shipped to someone for polishing or mounting work, I have no problem shipping it on to them either. The Buyer just needs to make sure all arrangements are made.

Sorry I haven’t been able to get a full blade shot showing the hamon yet, I’ll be trying again when I have a chance with more sunlight.

I can be reached at through PM or at storm_shaman@hotmail.com
Check or money order prefered, and I might be able to take paypal.

Thought it might help a bit if I mentioned a bit more of what I might be interested in as far as trades go, although I’m not limited to just these either. A large number of Albions, baskethilts, sabers, roman, and even some of the production Japanese stuff would be of interest. Riveted maille would be an option, but it would have to be pretty big. Helms from the early iron age up until the Viking age would also be something.

Rick also thought that I might help to mention that he’s current pricing for 1075 blades is between $2200-2500. This one is ready to go out the door and the trade factor there.

Price drop:

I'm going to drop the price to $1800, but only for around a week. After that I'll just borrow any money I need and give the sword back to Rick to sell. It will not go any lower in price. I'm adding a few more pics, but my camera doesn't seem to be enough to get any full detailed shots. Maybe in a few days I'll get Rick to help with pictures.

Just wanted to say that I was on-hand for some of the work on this blade, and the pictures don't do it justice. Excellent work by Rick/Shane as always. From what I recall, this would be a mean cutting blade on harder targets.

Thanks Jeremy,

I can't remember if this was one of them that I started polishing on why you were there or not, pretty sure it was. The hamon isn't quiet as rowdy as the others we heat treated that day, but there is still plenty of activity. The habuchi just lights up like fire when you get it at the right angle, it even has utsuri.

I am considering pretty much anything for trade up to about $800, with the exception of wall hangers or anything else that I don't think I would be able to sell or trade off at a later date to make up the difference. I could really use the money by the end of the month, but if it is still around by the middle of next week the rush to sell will be over with and it will just sell when it sells.

I'm assuming this sale has gone through, so I changed the title from [Pending] to [SOLD]. If that's incorrect, please feel free to change it. Thanks!
