Did I see a Bauernwehr on the Witcher?
I could have sworn I saw a few shots of a very nice Bauernwehr being used by the title character in the new season of The Witcher, but I couldn't find any screenshots of it online. Was I hallucinating? I'd even go so far as to say it looked like the work of an artisan who is often posting on here.

Can anyone help me out here?

EDIT: Looks like 1st episode right around the 14 minute mark
Yep! That was probably one from Tod of Tods Workshop and Tod Cutler. He makes reproductions for the show. I HIGHLY recommend his Youtube channel Tods Workshop. He even has a video about artificially aging daggers for the show.

Hi Jean Henri,

Yes that was my work. I made most of the hero weapons and quite a lot of other weapons for the first and second series of Witcher, a stack for the prequel "Blood Origins" and am about to start S3 Witcher next week.

I cannot post a picture of the bauernwehr unfortunately, but it had around a 11" blade with a fuller, steel bolsters and nagel and horn grip scales. It also came with a by knife set of eating knife and pricker. All the pieces had a small silver 'wolf' medallion set into the grips.

I made two sets, one (very unusually) sharp in case they wanted to actually cut anything and one blunt with around a 0.8mm edge.

I hope that helps and thanks for taking an interest.

I made three films with Nick the head of armoury about some of the S1 props here https://youtu.be/3qPw4lcNpvU here https://youtu.be/3qPw4lcNpvU and here https://youtu.be/23BhOk8pMRk

Hey Todd and Cheers!

I thought I recognized your handiwork and it was quite beautiful. They showed one of them several times in the first episode, though quite briefly each time, they definitely made a point of it. I made some screenshots which I can upload here if it's allowable by copyright? I don't know what the rule is, let me know if you like I'll upload them.

I did notice the by-knives and really, I think it was a lovely design and so nice to see a real - and quite interesting - medieval weapon on there and featured so prominently. I believe it was the sharp because he sliced a piece off what was supposed to be dog or wolf flesh with it and ate some, though shockingly, he didn't wipe the blade off before re-sheathing it lol.

Congrats on that very nice work. I liked especially that it had a clamshell. .It looked very similar to this antique, I wondered if that was a coincidence?

Also do you make this exact type for sale?

Jean
HI Jean Henri,

Thanks for the compliments and yes it did have good screen time and I think it will probably be back in later series. From my point of view I am very limited in what I can say and do, but you are not subject to my contracts so feel free to post whatever screen grabs you like.

It was pretty close to the top one in form and detail, but not based on any exact piece. I have made similar ones to the bottom one previously.

Tod
