Does anybody make a quality production saif (Arab sword - slightly different than the Persian and Turkish swords in the same family) these days?

Thanks!

Sorry to necro this thread, but I am still wondering about this and I didn't get a response. I am wondering if, maybe, somebody has an answer. Thank you!

I don't believe anyone does on a mass scale. I could make some suggestions if I knew exactly how you define 'saif', since it is just the Arabic word for 'sword'. There have been swords referred to as 'saif' in all shapes and sizes: medieval styles with straight blades, later slightly curved designs of Turkic influence, and then the swords with later style parabolic Persian 'shamshir' (another problematic term, like 'saif') blades, but with local variant hilts.

Perhaps share a few pictures of what you're thinking of and I can provide some pointers.

Thanks for the response. Yes, you're right. I probably should have been more specific. I'm talking about the arabic versions of the family of swords that includes shamshirs, kilij, and talwars - basically by 'saif' I mean arabic-style scimitars. If you look a the images when googling "antique arabian saif" you'll hopefully get a better idea of what kind of thing I am looking for.

Take a look at:

All his swords are sold as sharps, and seem to have good weights and POBs. He may be able to customize something for you. I have a shamshir on order from him at the moment.
