Hi everyone,
some time ago I found this magnificient shield and would like to know more about it. A replica hangs in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg (see picture) as far as I have understood from Russian Wikipedia. I hope I made good use of the (Google) search functions, but information is quite scarce, as far as I have found out for me. Therefore, I'm kindly asking for help, maybe some Russians here know more?
Russian Wikipedia says:
https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9A%D0%B0%D0%BF%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%B9_%D1%89%D0%B8%D1%82
(I did translate through Google Chrome)
Do you have any information about it or how to find them? I heard about it's also called the "Red Shield", but maybe there are other names?
My key questions:
- Size / measurements? Maybe some of you here can make estimations only by analyzing the picture.
- What type? Like it's not a typical Kite shield obviously, like more "tear drop" / "almond" form?
- Any picture of the original?
- Any further pictures of replicas?
Thank you very much for your help! :-)
Cheers,
Ulli
