Descriptions of unknown types of armour.
Hello everyone! I read about helmets and fond next names of types of ancient helmets. Helmet (description): Cap (conical or round, with neck-, nose-, cheek- and/or spectacle guard and/or cheek plates) and Sun Hat (Brimmed cap). But no imagines there. Google shows a lot of helmets, but I'm not sure about those variations. Maybe can someone send me pictures of these helmets, please? It's really need help with it. I have no idea.

Thank you
What time period do the helmets belong to John? That may help someone ID them.

I think it's A.D. 800 (Viking time) or the Medieval period. Something like this.
Edge and Paddock, "Arms and Armour of the Medieval Knight", pp.186-87 has a good outline of the various helmets during this time. Nice clean sketches.

Though a bit earlier than 800 (570-790), this sounds like a Vendel-type helmet

The sun hat sounds like a form of kettlehat but sun hats vary so much in style that its hard to be specific.
Is there a name for that helmet type in carolingian art that kinda looks like a morion?

Oh! Thank you so much! Now it's more clear for me! I was really confused when I have read about sun hats first time. But what's about a type of helmets like a brimmed cap?

Okay, I got it. It's an amazing stuff. Thank you!

Um . . . you didn't even specify where you read this and in what context. These descriptions could match all sorts of things from ancient Lacedaemonian/Spartan pilos helmets to much later Iron Age North European "spectacle" helmets.
