Friends,
I’m looking for recommendations for online and printed sources on the Roman gladius. I know of Matthew Amt’s Legio XX site. What else is out there that I should look at? Thanks!

Would recommend Roman Military Equipment from the Punic Wars to the Fall of Rome by Mike Bishop & Jon Clouston.
I have just ordered The Gladius: The Roman Short Sword by Mike Bishop earlier today by coincidence.

Dear Chad,
You might consider joining Roman Army Talk, which has heaps of information.
I hope this proves helpful.
Best,
Mark

Try "Rome and the Sword" by Simon James. I haven't looked at my copy in a long time but I remember it being pretty good.

I have "Roman Military Equipment" but while it is a good book and I do recommend it, it's information about the Gladius specifically is rather limited. Which makes sense because the book is about all possible military equipment used by the Romans and over a much longer period than just when the Gladius was popular.
Looking forward to hearing what you think about "The Gladius: The Roman Short Sword". Although at it's price it's probably worth picking up anyway.
