When I picture Victorian pieces its the high end ones in textbooks and major collections, so this is something a bit different.

I guess I'll stand by my main point above; it looks like various pieces put together to attain the overall look of a Medieval sword. I hope you're right that the blade is a Victorian antique, although coincidentally 3/16" is the standard thickness of the stock used in similar Indian blades. Of course that's not a contradiction; they were surely making blades in India in the Victorian age.
Well, apparently, most Victorian pieces were meant to be wall-hangers. The higher end ones were used to fill museum collections. I like my old wall-hanger. I plan to use it just as it was intended. I didn't inquire about possible countries of origin. I don't think it matters much. It was purchased out of Germany, but who knows? I was told the price I paid for it "wasn't disastrous."
