Let's talk about Plumes
Hello everyone,

I'm rather a new member on this forum and a few years into reenactment (XIV century). With a lot of spare time at home lately, I was thinking about adding some decorations on my houndskull and I was lucky enough to find an ostrich farm and they can supply different kinds and sizes of feathers.

My question is: are there any meaning to the colors of the plumes? Besides maybe representing the coats of arms colors and such, is there something to this?

Thank you

Thank you very much, the links were much appreciated and insightful. Even though they did not necessarily respond to my actual question (XIV century plumes) it can be extrapolated what their colors might mean back then. Interesting times :)
