New to this forum and wondering if anyone can help to identify this sword which was passed down to me by my Grandmother.

Hi Mark,

I unfortunately can't identify your sword for you but I thought I can at least provide a few sources that may be of use to you:

https://oldswords.com/ - site that contains quite big database of swords which you can access for a small fee of 10USD/year (seems like they have some tech issue at the time of my writing but otherwise it should work for you correctly). You will be able to narrow your search based on manufacturer, etc.

http://www.swordforum.com/vb4/ - this is a forum where you may be able to find some help from the members in the Antique & Military sub-forum there

Hi Mark,
I’m going to take a chance, stating what may already be obvious to you, but a quick image search indicates it is a Russian Imperial Navy sabre, I keep seeing the word “palash” but I don’t know what that means in this context, sorry. I haven’t spotted any fullers similar to the one you have, nor the engraving pattern on the blade. The reinforced tip seems to be a common feature. Im getting dates ranging from 1855 to 1917, which is not super helpful. But there are some out there, actively listed and/or archived on auction websites, maybe more focused search terms would help you get further than I have.
