Unknown object
Hello,

Maybe someone knows this object? I think it could be the shield of the sword?! I found it with a metal detector.
Thx for informations.

It's the quillon block of a smallsword or smallsword-like hilt. With any luck, someone with detailed knowledge of the subject will identify the style and time period it was made, but that's a start.

This is the kind of sword it probably came from

This exploded drawing may help to visualise how your find fitted into the overall hilt

I respectfully disagree. I think it looks overall more like a smallsword hilt, particularly the un-branched, hornlike finger rings.
Somehow I agree that's part of the sword, I am more interested in the period in which it was made, Is it possible that this is WW1/WW2? Like most finds on this terrain..
17th-18th century.
