Help with identifying a German sword
Hi. I'm new to the forum and collecting vintage arms. A friend's father brought this sword and scabbard back from Germany after WWII. The blade is 34 inches long. It appears to be an Imperial Infantry Officer's Dress Sword from WWI. It seems to be in excellent shape. The only markings on the blade are: Weyersberg & Co Solingen." This is written on the top edge of the blade. I'm interested in buying it from my friend but I want to make sure what I would be getting is correct. I'd appreciate any advice.

Hi Jeff

Welcome aboard.

I hate to play pass the buck but you might want to try over at Sword Forum International

http://www.swordforum.com/vb4/forumdisplay.ph...word-Forum

Dale Martin is active there and occasionally also reads at SBG as well as Blankwaffen. I have a feeling though that you will hear much of what has already been offered but he is very active at SFI and is more familiar with the subject, certainly more so than myself. George Wheeler at SFI is also quite up to speed with these types of German swords.

Best of luck
Cheers
GC
I appreciate the advice. Thanks
