A Cuirassier Close Helmet
Just wanted to share this. From what I understand, from around 1600. Likely Dutch. Obviously it has a number of repairs. Feel free to add any comments, other examples, or any other thoughts.

Hey, these pictures are really good. What is the pin for that sticks out below the right eye? It looks like to prevent the top half of the face shield from dropping too far down but that seems like an excessive peg for that.

And, how long does it take to remove the bottom part of the face shield? Like, it looks pretty easy, would that be something you could do pretty quickly without removing the helmet?
Victorian repro
Hello.
Great pictures. It looks very closely to me to be a Victorian reproduction

The extended pin is to be able to open and close the visor in a hurry in battle.

The face shield or upper bevor would need to have the pin swing out of the hole and then the whole thing swings up. It can swing up together with the visor or if the visor is already up.

Thanks Stacy. Can you tell us in more detail what brings you to that conclusion?
