Does anyone have good measurements or weights for the two bronze swords found with the Nebra Sky Disk? They are heart-achingly beautiful, and I want to make one, but I’d rather have nice measurements than measure and extrapolate from photographs.

The disk is apparently around 30 cm across, and both blades look to be a bit longer than that, so I’m guessing maybe 33-35 cm blades and ~45 cm overall??

Sky disk is actually about 32 cm in diameter.

And here's some info on sword length:

Quote:
Beide Schwerter sind sich äußerst ähn lich. Sie verfügen über eine ca. 36cm lange Klinge und nur eine Griffschale, die mit jeweils vier Nieten an der Klinge befestigt ist.

From this article:

H. Meller, Die Himmelsscheibe von Nebra - ein frühbronzezeitlicher Fund von außergewöhnlicher Bedeutung. Archäologie in Sachsen-Anhalt 2 (Halle [Saale] 2002) 7–20

It's unfortunately in German.

Hey thank you! This is very helpful. I found a drawing showing a side view, and some software that will let me get reasonably close measurements based on photos.

Any more information is encouraged!
