For your consideration I present to you my main creation for Blade Show 2019.

The Gladius has always been the sword which called out to me among others. There is an ineffable sense of dignity and honorable fatigue about this sword, the sort of melancholy which a tired soldier feels right before he climbs the last hill on his way home from a long campaign. This piece is especially precious to me as it is my first gladius executed in mosaic pattern damascus. It is the end of a whole journey as a craftsman, and the beginning of a whole other.

Materials: Mosaic Damascus of 15N20/1095 and 80crv, Granidillo Wood, Karelian Birch, silver, and bronze.

There are several videos of me creating this sword on my new youtube channel if you wish I can link you to them. I am offering this sword for sale here before anywhere else as I would prefer for a personal monumental piece as this to go to someone that truly understands it.

I am asking $5,850 .

Not sure about others, but though I have learned a little here about blade making over time I suspect any comment could not remotely do justice to your work on this. Less diplomatically... wow! Thank you for sharing this.

Plenty acceptable ! I never had any interest in mosaic damascus until i discovered a trove of roman blades that were mosaics. It took my mind quite a while to except that the Romans were making blades of that nature. Once I got passed that the doors opened and my mind ran wild. Mind you even now as I am writing this I have less than a year making mosaics.

Looks great.

I'm sure you are familar with the Daryl Meier stuff and the George Bush bowie. A fun discussion.

Late Roman shows a lot of Celtic influence in the blade making.

The mosaic stuff is tricky.
