XVI-XVIIcc Italian Stiletto with Mosin bayonet blade
This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available

Starting a yearly cleanup of my knifemaking projects, will try to sell two or three this year. I am a hobbyist / DIY maker.

This is XVI-XVIIcc Italian Stiletto I made with reworked Mosin-Nagant bayonet blade.

Short description: 8" blade, the handle is 5" total, constructed very similar to the museum examples I found online.
Guard (3" wide) and pommel were filed out of 1018 mild steel and heat blued. Same octagonal shape for the pommel and guard finials.
Grip is polished black buffalo horn, spiral wrap of twisted "silver like" wire set into a groove and held at the ends by tightly fitted nickel silver collars. Also some decorative nickel silver pins.
Everything held together by peening the end of tang over the pommel.
Scabbard made of stiff leather hardened with hot wax, dyed black. Nickel silver throat and chape (fabricated from sheet). Belt loop for a narrow belt (1/2").

I am attaching a couple small pictures here but better quality pictures are at https://public.fotki.com/aindman/stiletto-xvi-xviicc/
Also there are more details and discussion of historical examples/usage in two threads:
