8-year-old discovers Viking or Migration era sword in lake
Wow. What a story for this little girl to have for the rest of her life!

Yeah, she'll be the Lady of the Lake!
That's pretty awesome. I never find anything like that :p
When I saw this article, it made me smile. Everyone seemed to have a good attitude about it.
Reminds me of a mid 1970s find, where a boy found a Saxon sword in a stream while hunting for tadpoles.
It's known as the Gilling Sword, and is now in the Yorkshire Museum.

When I was a kid, the only submerged artifact I stepped on was a broken bottle. That did not end so well. :(
Recent sword finds
That is a fantastic story. Here are a couple of other remarkable swords found recently in Eastern Europe. Note the Viking Sword Chape as well.http://myArmoury.com/talk/attach_rules.php?f=1

I can't imagine how something can just sit there for so long and no one comes across it at all. I feel like we live in a crowded world but there's apparently much that goes long periods undisturbed by us.
