Hi All,

A couple of years ago I made 3 reproductions of the stunning A479 long sword from the Wallace Collection and documented the 'making' thread here www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=34061).

I have just had the fantastic opportunity to take one of these swords into the Wallace for Toby Capwell and myself to chat over and that video can now be found here https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=yzPYUeOkmkw

Just as a taster, here is a picture of the two swords side by side

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Regards

Tod

Tod,

Thanks for posting. Beautiful piece. Really interesting to listen to you coming at it from the maker perspective and Dr. Capwell coming at it from the historical/analytical perspective, as with the Swiss saber comparison. Kind of mind-bending to consider which one is more "real"... if the A479 is a Victorian composite constructed without regard for functionality, while yours attempts to re-introduce balance and functionality to the composite design, maybe your reproduction is more real than the original! Either way, it's an amazing privilege for us to get a behind-the-scenes view into your thinking as a craftsman.
