Beautiful combination, especially the scabbard. Good price too, not counting customs duties & shipping charges to the USA. If I had that much left after Christmas I might be tempted to buy it.

Your work keeps getting better. The cross you chose is more typical of an XI, but it makes for an interesting looking combination.

Thank you very much for your nice opinion about my work. You are right - that type of cross was often used in sword type XI. When I was making that sword I based on historicaL source. There was the crossguard type 1. in that sword. So I made it like that - like it was in historical find :-)

Assuming Oakeshott listed the cross type correctly, there are subtle variations within type 1. Earlier spikehilt types often had an elongated canoe shape with acute tips like this, whereas later ones often were straight toward the ends with square tips and a central bulge to accommodate the blade. And overall, this group of 13th C swords tended to have type 2 crosses. It's hard to tell from a drawing.

These are generalizations. There are exceptions to every rule that leave room for creative interpretation.
It is like you say. But what can i say - now I make the new sword with that cross type 2.
