Well, they looked cool in blue wax.. they looked cool right from the mould... but that's the first I've seen them polished, and man.. sweet. Check out this other photo, showing some of the details present:

Very nice stuff. I wasn't decided before, but I think the Vinland is my favorite of these 3. Ofcourse, I'd take one of each if I could, and the Clontarf is a very close second as it is. And the bad thing is, I don't have any money to spend on any of them... waaaaaaaa..... Cry

Hi David,

The "Artist Renderings" were Photoshop tracings of the actual blade profiles. Howy did them one morning at about 5am (his normal start time more of less). I think there might be some photos of the blade blanks themselves buried in the news page somewhere. My home internet connection is too slow for me to find it while I'm typing, but unless someone beats me to it (......Nathan..........) I'll dig one up and post it in an edit or something.

Check the artist rendering right next to one another and the blades should be different. All four of the Next-Gen. Vikings will have different blades. The only one left unaccounted for the Geibig 1 blade type, and Steve is currently in the process of programming it. I think that Peter might have a hilt in mind for it as well.

I hate you, Roger, for bringing this to my attention. This is really going to put a divide in my A&A rapier fund.

And I always thought I'd never want a viking sword...

Yep, the Vinland is my favorite as well. In my mind it's a classic viking age design. It's definetly on my short list of future purchases.

Having handled a couple of the rough blade blanks for the Geibig variants I can really see the potential. Neat stuff.

Nice!!! I ordered a next-gen Gaddhjalt a couple of weeks ago and am eagerly awaiting it. Those finished hilts look so good I'm seriously considering scraping together another $544 for either a Clontarf or Vinland next month, even though "classic Viking" swords aren't really my thing.
I believe Mr. Johnsson mentioned in an earlier post that Albion was trying to get the fullers wider and deeper. I am very interested in seeing a finished blade and how the fullers come out. Very impressive to produce 5 completely distinct swords rather that the same blade with 5 different hilts.

Nice pommels and guards there.

I always liked an "X" type sword with a broad, nice fuller - but still ending with a sharp point.
(Dough intended for cutting, i don´t like a too unsharp an spatulated point.)

In fact i think that my second favorite is in fact a Xa. Razz

To bad i don´t own one yet.

It still suprises me how excited everybody get's over the pic's that go on our web site. Becuse no matter what we do the pic's, they never do justice to the accual sword's.
ok i can't help but gloat a little, god i love my job. Razz

Life sucks, deal with it, and get out of my face.

Like Scott, I was wavering a bit, but the Vinland definitely has my vote. If I had any money, it would get that too! Big Grin

Regards,

Mike

Well, I ordered the Gotland a couple of weeks ago. When I saw the picture of the polished steel hilt components, I slapped myself and wondered why I hadn't chosen the Vinland instead. Upon reflection, I've decided to stick with the Gotland. I still prefer its hilt shape, its blade, and its appearance from a distance. The Vinland sure is nice, though. So is the Clontarf. And the Gaddhjalt.

I like the Clontarf. It looks the most practical to handle (for the likes of me at least).
