My next sword is going to be a Polish szabla and am looking for any feedback you have on either Tomek Kowmal or Wojtysiak Weapons. Both have been very helpful via email, but there is a significant difference in both price and wait times between the two.

Has anyone purchased from either of these smiths? Impressions? Quality? Etc?

Thank you...

Hello,

While I have no sword from Wojtysiak weapon, I do have a Kowmal karabela.

As far as I know Wojtysiak is more munitions grade/SCA type of weapons producer, and cares more about durability than historical accuracy or finese. His weapons are undoubtedly fine and he is a skilled smith, just in a different type of swordmaking.

Kowmal on the other hand, while he has a long wait time (winter 2018 as of now) is a master smith. His pricing is decent and quality is astounding. The saber I have (a polish karabela, he even has it as his facebook background atm) is made very well and dances when handled. He was able to recreate a museum original very well. The scabbard too is very nicely made. While his work isnt perfect (he says its intentional not to make it look like it was done by a machine) I will undoubtedly order from him in the future again.

If you have any firther questions feel free to ask
