Armour development in XIVth century Europe.
Inspired by the new book from Tobias Capwell, I decided to start collecting all the available information about the various forms of protections in Europe thought the XIVth century.

I started by looking at all available art, including miniatures, effigies and frescoes.

I'll be updating this thread as I do more, so be patient.

This is just the beginning, so bear with me if the quality of the sketches is not up to the standards. In the future I might revise older tables and re-draw them as I go.

The tables will be divided by armour typology and region.

Enjoy.

Some of those can be conflated into one entry. Many of the paintings and sculptures are simply different artistic renderings of the same armour.
I'm aware of that, but I wanted to report also all kind of materials used for those kinds.

I suppose I could have the main roman numeral for the kind and then letters to show the different material and variants.

For example in the arms, type IX, X and XI could be all be under type IX, and just be classified as IXa and IXb.
Great stuff Augusto, very handy! Esp for someone looking at getting some new 14th cent stuff made!
