Hey Albion folks,
Is there a relationship between parts used in the Castella, Mercenary and Squire Line XVa? If had to guess, I'd say the Mercenary and Squire share hilt components (thought the NG is more refined). Is the Mercenary blade the same as the Castellan?

I would guess that all three of them are the same blade. The Squire-line, of course, isn't as finished or sharpened, of course. That's purely a speculative guess until somebody from Albion comes here to give a real answer, though.

The Late 15th Century Squire line and The Mercenary are the same sword. The Squire line sword does not have an edge and has less of a finish on it then The Mercenary. The Mercenary has a higher level of finish and has sword edges. So for someone that wants a blunt and a sharp of the same sword - here you go. :D

The Castellon shares the same blade as well.

Hmmm ... Is there anyone but me who get an urge to have a couple? The Talhoffer and the Constable or The Ringeck and the Mecenary.

The mercenary is a good deal at $550. Make that an excellent deal. The Castellan is significantly more expensive at $750 considering they share the same blade and the same quality in finish.

While The Mercenary and the Castellan share the same blade, their fittings and hilts are markedly different. The added complexity and detail of the Castellan's guard and pommel (they only look simple!) and the more involved shape of the hilt's wood core greatly increase the amount of time needed to produce them. The Castellan has a very interesting pommel, and one that is very easy to grip. Here's a closeup:
