I have for sale a British naval officers sabre, probably dating to the late 1840s-50s.

The blade is of the 'Wilkinson' style, introduced to the Navy in 1846. The blade has been service sharpened and has heavy pitting in places, but the original polish and etching is visible on most of the blade. The proof slug indicates the sword was sold by Gillot and Hasell of London. Overall this is a nice handling sword and a good example of the regulation type.

This sword has the older style pommel with the knucklebow held in the lion's mouth. The grip wire is all present and intact. The shagreen is also all present and undamaged, although the original white paint has flaked off in places. The folding section of the guard moves freely and the spring works as it should. The blade is solid in the grip, though there is some slight movement of the guard.

The original wood lined leather scabbard is included with the sword, though it is missing the drag and has seen better days.

Asking $430 AUD ($323 US/£250/€296) and will ship anywhere. Please PM for international shipping costs.
