Churburg S18 Gauntlets
I am going to be attempting to reproduce the pair of gauntlets that are with the Churburg S18 armour. The upper and lower part of each gauntlet are two separate pieces, but I can't tell how the two pieces are attached to each other. Does anyone have any ideas about how the two pieces of the gauntlet are held together? Thanks
don't they just float?

One for The Armour Archive maybe...
Jared---When you say 'upper and lower', do you refer to where the wrist cuff meets the back hand plate? Or, do you refer to how the 'upper' steel parts were attached to the 'lower' glove? Just looking at some photos of the originals, the cuff is riveted together from at least four pieces...as best I can tell. It appears to me that the upper part of the cuff is one piece, riveted underneath to two small plates that are, in turn, riveted to another internal plate that is not visible from the outside. I believe the cuff is then riveted to the back hand plate, and is rigid...not articulated. The decorative trim hides where the two pieces meet. That's just the way it looks to ME.....I could be totally wrong though. The steel parts are riveted to a backing(leather? thick cloth?), and then sewn onto a glove. As I said, I may be TOTALLY wrong on all of this. :wtf: ....McM
The photos I was looking at were from 'Pinterest', and I'm not about to post them. I just did a search for 'Churburg armor gauntlets' and there they were. ;) ....McM
Not CHS 18, but nonetheless...

It seems to be a pair of loosely peened rivets.

That seems to make more sense, construction-wise. But I'm *pretty sure* the photos I was looking at were of THE Churburg gauntlets. Possibly at one time they were split-cuff, and closed later? I don't know. :wtf: ....McM
