In application, no one would stand there and let you hit him. So I have always emphasized "aerial power generation" because one could not tell which foot would be on the ground at the moment of attack, or both feet being off the ground. The opponent may suddenly close in or fall back to change the distance. Thus if it takes a solid footing and synchronized body to strike, it would be telegraphing and the opponent may detect the attack timing, thus defending or evading it.

Hence, I have always stress the ability to strike at whatever circumstances. This fit the philosophy of Niten Ichi Ryu coincidentally.
