This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available

This stunning open-faced was made by David Hewitt, master armourer at White Rose Armoury in the UK.

This sallet has never been used and is near new.

The proportions of this one are beautiful, and the medial ridge is graceful and well defined.

The sallet is brilliantly blued and polished, though currently slightly muted with a protective coat of Ren Wax to protect the finish. The sallet features brass rivets, edging, a linden leaf / heart detail at the tip of the tail, plume holder at the front, and authentic lost wax cast buckle.

It also comes complete with a suspended cloth liner. In its current form, it fits my 22.25 inch / 56.5 cm head with room to spare, therefore allowing for a larger head, thin arming cap, or using a thicker liner.

This piece was built in 2 mm / 14 g steel.

This piece is located in New Zealand, and will ship via NZ Post’s International Courier at cost with full insurance. (The online calculator suggests cost to the US, for example, would be about US$65.)

Price is US$395.

Please don’t hesitate to PM me if you need any more information.

Errata: I just realised that three details above aren't right - this one doesn't have a linden leaf at the back; it has a leather spider, rather than a padded liner; and the size is slightly smaller - it's snug as-is on my 22.25 inch head. So it will work well as a parade/display piece for that size noggin, or would suit someone smaller for re-enactment, if installing an additional padded liner or wearing an arming cap.

Apologies for that - I was looking at a different sallet!

I also have a beautiful blued bevor by Mark Vickers that matches this sallet well which I'd also be happy to sell.

Again, please feel free to PM with any questions.

Here's the bevor from Mark Bevor / St George Armoury. This one is blued, and looks better than in my pics. It also features Mark's maker's stamp.

Mark added a strap and buckle, as well as a leather liner, pre-punched with holes so you can add a padded liner.

Price is US$100 for the bevor, which I'm only selling with this sallet at this point - so US$495 for the two.
