did the takeda really 'invent' the cavalry charge (in japan)
like the title says this is an idea thats been passed around that it was the takeda clan during the 15th century that invented the cavalry charge, or at the least were the only ones to employ shock charges

considering that the mounted archer style samurai declined after the mongol invasions in favour of sword and lance, this seems wierd that they didnt charge....

is there any truth to this claim abut the takeda or is it one of those oft quoted myths that noones bothered to debunk publically
Given that cavalry charges are described in much earlier Japanese literature (e.g., Heike Monogatari), Takeda Shingen invented the cavalry charge to the same extent that Gustaf Adolf invented the cavalry charge.
