New grip, scabbard and belt for Albion Bastard
Late 15th century Bastard Sword made by Albion Armourers. I have made a new grip, added the rainguard-chape and scabbard. Blade is sharp. All fittings and belts are made by Leo Todeschini.
Scabbard leather work design is based on some 15th century motives, also the composition concept is based on some late medieval scabbards.

Specifications of the sword are taken from a producer website:
Total length: 42.25" (108 cm)
Blade length: 33.125" (86 cm)
Blade width: 2.375" (6 cm)
CoB: 3.875" (10.8 cm)
CoP: 19.5" (49.5 cm)
Weight: 2 lbs 15.6 oz (1.35 kilos)

model ?
Hi,

What actual model/type of sword from Albion is the sword ?
Bastard squire line was the base for this project.
I've said it on Facebook but I'll say it again here - what a package! To me the aesthetics choices and execution are bang on - in fact I've been looking for a second hand Albion 15th cent. bastard for a few years to do - well - just that, down to using Tod's fittings for the harness. Your work on scabbards is really outstanding - I have not forgotten your take on the St.George scabbard either and it keeps getting better and better.

I have yet to see something out of your workshop that I don't like - and given how productive you've been that's saying a lot :)
Best,
J

edit: just in case people have not seen your flick account and judge for themselves! https://www.flickr.com/photos/128379918@N05/
it's kind of you, Julien, thank you :) appreciate your opinion.
about this productivity - there are three reasons, I think:
1) I love to do this
2) this is my only "job", at this moment :)
3) I work in stages: first making some few blades at the same time, then heat treating all of them, then pommels for them, crossguards, all scabbards and wood work, all leather work for them, etc... and finally we have many finished swords almost same time :) Here's the secret, I believe :)
Would not have even guessed that this sword actually lived inside the other one.
well, Joe - that is an interesting point of view :) I agree, and that was the plan - to create something unique with some very good Albion sword and it is still Albion quality inside included :)
This is a great offering. I would snatch it up, but I am already on your list for a special sword of course.

The scabbard, belt, and rainguard work is easily worth 1000. The handle grip and blade sharpening are almost a free gift at this price. That scabbard design is very nice, I don't think I ever saw the design before. Of course the blade will be good steel and great tapering, but your shaping has made it even better. It all looks extremely well done

Man, I'm really tempted. Someone is going to get a great deal and their favorite longsword with this one. I have never had a problem with receiving Maciej's work, with three transactions so far.
Thank you my friend for this recommendation.
I can only add that this is very good quality Albion sword, as all their pieces, condition as a new, just sharpened carefully.
Handling this sword is absolutely perfect for this type and parameters, in my opinion.
Maciej,

Maybe it's just the photos, but it looks as though you have reshaped the blade a little and made it hollow ground. Is that the case?
it is maybe effect of light and shadows. I didn`t reshape the blade, just some soft and gentle polishing after my work :)
blade is still Albion shaped, plus sharpening :)
sword is sold :) thank you for your comments and opinions :)
Thank goodness this found a home!
