You nailed it Martin - that scabbard it fits the bill perfectly.
That's a remarkable piece. congrats.

Fantastic work Martin.

Really great looking piece and very well made - congratulations

Tod
I'm originally not a great fan of the cinquedea-design, but this sure looks fantastic! Congrats!
Thanks all, happy to hear you like it :-)
Once more, this time with chape added (see download links below). Also a close up of the sheath decoration, taken from an early 16th cent original.
Now only the engraving on the pommel is missing, but that will have to wait a while - have to catch up on shoe orders and there's a Roman mail shirt breast plate to be made as well.

Disgustingly good! very nice work on the shape too. Moving pro anytime soon Martin? :)
Who made the blade by the way?
Cheers,
J
I have to say that it´s one of the best executed DIY projects I have seen lately! And I like the idea of scabbard and by-knives.
:D - no, not yet, but if I'd go professional I guess it would be on the leather/shoes side, too amateurish with the rest still :-P
The blade was made by Jürgen Grassler (http://www.schorsch-der-schmied.de) .... in exchange for a pair these: http://sutor.jimdo.com/4th-century-ad/deurne-campagus-i/
gorgeous work! weapon, by-knives, scabbard, shoes--all of it!
