I am hunting for primary sources on combat in Europe from the high middle-ages in particular. I have heard about descriptive accounts from this period but haven't seen them myself. Can anyone suggest a good place to start looking?

De Re Militari: http://deremilitari.org.

In particular, William the Breton's prose account of The Battle of Bouvines is a superb account of one of the most dramatic battles of the early 13th century: http://www.deremilitari.org/RESOURCES/SOURCES/bouvines5.htm

Froissart has some of course. I very much doubt a scrap taking pace across a small stretch of water is any different on either side. Also 'The Arrival' for the ED IV 1471 campaign
Currently working on projects ranging from Elizabethan pageants to a WW1 Tank, Victorian fairgrounds 1066 events and more. Oh and we joust loads!.. We run over 250 events for English Heritage each year plus many others for Historic Royal Palaces, Historic Scotland, the National Trust and more. If you live in the UK and are interested in working for us just drop us a line with a cv.
