Lessons at Big Rock Forge
I've recently started offering teaching to my palette of services. I'm phasing in group classes and workshops for the near future but I'm now offering private lessons in various areas including basic forging, forge welding, knife/sword/axe/spear making, and wood carving. My intense private lessons strongly emphasize fundamentals of craftsmanship and aesthetics. Techniques such as flat grinding blades, forging blades to shape, pattern welding and wood inletting via chisels for hidden tang construction are a large part of what I offer.

Here are a few images from a 4 day lesson a just completed for a fellow who flew up from Alabama.

I will be scheduling group classes in the near future and there is one being offered already through a local folk school. Please see details here:

Among other things.. I'm testing out the idea for a Scottish dirk class with a group of guys in a few weeks to look into the feasibility and interest in something like that.
