This is a knife based closely on a rugger sold through Fricker in 2010.
It is dated around 1500 and has an 18"/45cm blade with steel bolsters and nagel and stag antler scales. My mark is inlaid in copper which is a detail I am trying to do with all my knives now and the scabbard is made in veg tan and has two layers and is dyed red.
It is really quite a monster and someone on Facebook expressed pretty much what I was thinking whilst I was making it, which is that it is very very similar to a Kyber knife.
I hope you like it.

Great piece! I'd love to see a better pic of the point section where the blade is double sided. That looks really nicely done. Outstanding work as always Tod!!!

What, no close up pic of the inlaid maker's mark?

Tod,
I love that knife (even if it is almost a short sword). I just love it. I want to make on like it some day. Even if I don't, I still know that I will be looking at these pictures over and over in delight (and in study).
I hope you have a client for it already, and that they appreciate what an interesting item it is historically, as well as how excellent the craftsmanship is.
Love it.
