Photos from a closing weapon museum
Hungary became a strange land; Closed because political reasons (called "rationalisation and integration" ), I hope one day it will open again.

Enjoy the wonderful items in the photos!

That is too bad. The museum certainly has some interesting pieces in their collection. Do you know what they plan to do with the collection? I always hate to see that occur anywhere. In my town they recently broke up the collection of the country historical museum to make way for an interactive museum honoring a country musician who grew up in the area. There was supposed to be a plan to open another historical museum displaying the collection but that has been 5 - 6 years and nothing further has been said or done.
Thank you
The weapons are now in an other county, the director won't tell the place :) I really hope they'll go back to Eger.

Thank you/köszi szépen!
Some very interesting weapons! I like the celtic swords, they are quite well preserved.
Thank you for the pictures. What is the name of the museum?
Hi Henrik,
I choose not to be on Facebook, so is there a chance of posting the photos straight, not via Facebook, please?
Thanks in hope.
Neil
"Történeti Tárház" it's something like "History Storehouse"

Anybody knows, or guesses what is this oversized saber supposed to be?

Perhaps it's just perspective - distance from the camera/other sabers - playing tricks, but it looks rather peculiar.
I wrote to the owner and asked him about that saber.

Thanks. You've got some great stuff there. It would be a great shame if it all disappeared into a store or worse.

At least one of those axes is a re-purposed woodworking axe of a common European pattern. Here are similar examples with shorter handles:

Yes, a thai crossbow appears next to the nutpommel swords, too. :)

The unknown original owner could have carried the giant sword to battle. But it takes more than one person to lift it, I believe.
Well, hopefully those items went to another museum, and not someone's personal collection.
Such a shame, I was lucky enough to visit that museum that holds some rather interesting pieces, including several models of messers, and a longsword-size katzbalger.
It was a private collection presented to the public.
Thanks for posting the link. I would have never seen this otherwise.
Very interesting and enjoyable to see.

I'll draw my own conclusions on the closure due to political ramifications of historical weapons on display to the public...
