Hello,

I'm searching sources (archaeological if possible) or historicals reproductions of the knight templars (or Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon)'s equipment for early XIIth century.

More precisely sword, turkish mace, and mail armor.

Thanks in advance for all piece of information you can have to share.

For the mail, you're probably looking at a hauberk with attached hood, and 1/2 to wrist length sleeves (without hand protection) combined with a conical helm. It would be made of demi-riveted construction (half solid rings) with round rivets.

The "Turkish" mace would be a flanged variety, possibly a "cucumber mace", as all the earlier European examples seem to be of the faceted or knobbed variety.

I'll leave the swords to someone else.

Mart, I don't think an Conical Helmet would be appropriate for 12th Century armour. The Bascinet helmet, which is what I think of when I hear "Conical Helmet" was very prevalent in the 14th Century. Is their a different style of helmet I don't know about?
