Well, seems like 1010 is a fine metal to work with if 1030/1050 is not available.

@Peter: Do the jousters use 1010 for lack of higher carbon sheets? Or they have a reason for using it?

@Luka: Thanks for the info and kind words. I got into the habit of using thicker and thiner sheets for different parts from the get go, hope they make up for the material.
uuhhhh don't know honestly, Bertus has some parts made of mild steel, as far as I know. However I believe his new arm harness and pauldrons are made of spring steel. There is no particular reason to use mild steel, maybe it was cheaper? Maybe the armorer didn't work with spring steel?
