Thick bamboo test cut
Testing out my cutting stand's capability in holding thicker bamboo stalks for test cuts. The alvin DS was too soft to bite into the bamboo, resulting in most failed cuts and severely rolled edge! The Zheng Nodachi survived alright with slight rolling that were restored by steeling the edge.

Thick bamboo test cut
Just watched your video. It is divided into three parts:
The Good (successes)
The Bad (failures)
The Ugly (blade damages)
Hi Lancelot.
I love your small cutting videos they are great to watch and you are so serious with all of your cuts.
keep up the great work.
Thanks so much. I try to limit the power of the cuts I used to the degree that it can be used in sparring to actually hit someone with. So I don't force my way through all the targets, but set a limit of the power and then see how good the swords will do in such limit. It's easier to see the difference of the performance of different swords this way, than always powering up to max for cutting through the targets all the way. :)
Good to see test cuts against a more serious medium like bamboo. I was surprised how badly the edge rolled on the Alvin DS. It doesn't look like the makers had anticipated it would be used for test cutting.

You may want to check out the latest test I've done with Paul Southren as well. 3 swords out of 8 were damaged in the process in cutting pork arms.
