Show us your In-hand Pictures Thread?
Hi All,

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve taken delivery of a long-awaited sword, and have been surprised (not necessarily negatively) by its proportions upon unboxing.

Reading Patrick’s post about his new acquisition ( http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t...mp;start=0) made me think: wouldn't it be good to have a thread made up solely of in-hand photos? We occasionally see these kinds of pictures when reading a hands-on review (mostly, it seems, by Patrick!), but they’re definitely not par for the course. YouTube and Google can also be helpful, but not as helpful as I would like…

Would it be worthwhile having such a thread? I will take some pics of my own pieces over the weekend, but please feel free to post/ re-post any pics you might have in the interim.

(apologies if this kind of thread already exists, by the way, but I couldn't find anything!)

Cheers,

Ant
It would be more helpful to me if people included their height. I've PMed certain Youtubers to ask that question because seeing the relative proportions on camera doesn't help as much if I don't know the difference in height compared to myself.
Since I'm somewhat the instigator in this I guess I'll get the ball rolling. I've started including in hand photos because I do find them helpful in judging a sword's proportions. I'm about 6' 0".

Patrick, very impressive, you should be wearing armor as well!!!
I guess I'm a bit too camera shy for the PK full frontal, but here are a few pics that I dug up. The first is a Jeff Helmes 13th century German sword, and the 2nd is a custom A&A XVI, or XVIa. Both have a 35" Blade. I'm 6'

By the way, the background for the 2nd one is the pioneer munitions depot we live in. A fitting place to store swords.

If I can put my ugly mug out there in cyberspace, everyone else can embrace the process. :D
Not quite as serious as PK's shots, but here I am in my "Bring on the zombies!" pose from a "Walking Dead" themed Halloween a few years ago. In hand are two Albion messers: The Knecht, and The Soldat. I'm only 5'6", and crouching, so... In my "Slayer Bar" set-up at the office, the Knecht was hung and titled "The Slayer", with the Soldat hung below and captioned "Slayer's Little Friend". ;)

Of course, the Beretta wasn't tucked into the vest at the office...

Wow - gone for a couple of days, and look what a response I get! Thanks everyone - these are awesome.

You're right Patrick - you were the main impetus behind this thread: thanks very much for re-posting your pics.

Here are mine.

For scale, I'm 5'10" on a good day
