The Fetter lane Sword-by Castle Keep,Isle of Skye
i wanted to share the story of this Sword,it has taken me a year and a half to complete, with the help of Mick Maxen for the exquisite seven bar pattern welded billet. This is my most ambitious work to mark 25 years as a working Swordsmith.

Now that is impressive! Do you have any pictures of the sword / scabbard from far enough away as to make them visible in their entirety ?
That is an incredible piece of work! I love all the details on the hilt, just stunning. Your work is always incredible and this is something to be especially proud of.
I too would like to see picture of the whole sword ;)

I'm generally a fan of austere weapons, but this piece of work is astonishing. It should be on display in a public art gallery.
Oh-hoh, that is truly something!
That sword is some quarter century landmark piece, sir!

Congratulations for a superb example of swordsmiths' art!

I am hoping to contact the British Museum about this Project,as they were good enough to share Hi Res pics of the original piece in their collection.

A side-by-side display would be amazing. If you need a petition of public interest, you know where to come!
Truly beautiful. You've taken your work to a whole new level with this one.
Top class Rob,
Well done,
:surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised: :surprised:

I have long followed Castle Keep and thought that maybe I might, some day, manage to get a custom-made sgian-dubh for Highland dress wear but this is just jaw-dropping; a truly beautiful piece of the swordsmith's craft and art. The pattern-weld of the blade is equally impressive and perfectly complements the style, detail and artistry of the finished sword and accoutrements.

I think you can safely say that what you have achieved more than meets your stated aim of creating a "masterpiece." It truly deserves to be displayed somewhere prominent and the British Museum sounds about right to me!

:D
Hi Rob
Congratulations on an fine piece that is one real nice replica of the fetter lane sword and one of my all time favorites
You have come an long way from the knights sword that you made for me.
Thanks for all the comments here, not sure what to tackle next now?
i thinki will need to sell this one first.
If you are still in the anglo saxon mood, I'd love to see your take on either the Gilling West or Abingdon swords!
Obviously your most achieved work so far Rob ! Very nicely done !
IMHO:
