The Death Dealer helm is a beauty, I don't recall the weight of the D.D but once on the old noggin it was very comfortable and the weight distribution perfect! Also to mention the chainmail goods that Harlan makes are just perfect, smooth and clean, my wife took the one I bought her to work so here is another fine example

I tells ya. It's really hectic going to 2 different large shows at the same time, particularly when you're trying to manage an entourage.

Me and my posse of scary looking Asian guys (and one pretty blonde girl) made it for the morning of Saturday, then we dashed off to the SHOT show. In addition to being a Sardonic, Sadistic Asian Supervillain, I am also "Chief Counsel" for an FFL holder. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Wink

Sorry I missed Sergeant Mac, and Ben Sweet (with whom I only communicated via these forums). Did get to say quick hello to the Albion skeleton crew, Vince and Grace, Tinker, Scott Slobodian, and the Dawson Gang. I would've given anything to see the guys in the Death Dealer helms. I was offered a chance to don them, but had to decline for religious reasons.

I think I should have enough vacation days saved up, so next year I will be able to manage my time better.

Great pics, Ben !

I started to attach hoards of pictures, here, but decided that I was probably going to overwhelm this thread pretty quickly !
So I scrapped that idea and have begun to put together a few albums so that folks can view them if they choose to !
( I'll continue adding pics here but the bulk will get stored on my little PictureTrail deal ! )

So far I've got 2 of them up ..... one for the fine antigue arms brought by Pat Tougher of Scottish Sword & Shield , and the other for the wonderful pieces brought by Rob Miller of Lion Gate Arms & Armour ! So do check them out if you get the chance .

Meeting these two gentleman was a pleasure and I thank them both very much for putting up with my constant flashing camera, as well as my grubby little basket-paws (which were forever touching something on their tables ;-)

Upon arrival at the show Vince took me for a walk over to the antique side to checkout a piece he thought was rather cool !
We roamed the aisles and eventually found Row FF, tables 7-8, that belonged to an antique dealer named Jeffrey R. Millet.

The piece turned out to be a Scottish 'Irish'-hilted backsword, with curved sabre blade, selling for the rather low sum of $895.00 . Upon examination we both concluded that the hilt, although extremely well made, and aged, had to be of modern make ..... with its blade being of much older vintage, probably 18th century cavalry ?

The sword was a joy to weild, feeling wonderful in hand, and having just the right feel that a good antique original should possess ! At this pricepoint is was well worth the money and had us thinking that this hilt could easily be the work of one E.B. Erickson (Eljay) ! I shall have to ask our friend if this might be by his hand ?

As I'd just got to the show, and had yet to see what was on hand, I decided to take a chance and walk away with the hope I that I might be able to still acquire it, if still available, later !

Mr. Millet was gracious and forthcoming, allowing us to handle, photograph, and checkout all the wonderful items on his table. * He had some incredible Scottish all steel pistols for sale that were going for the big bucks, I haven't seen that many in one place but for a museum !

Okay, long story short ...... I scoped out everything there, and by the next day, Saturday, I returned to Jeffrey's table and was happy to see that the sword was still available, which I than proceeded to buy !
(all the other stuff that I wanted was a tad out of my wallets reach .... maybe next year :-)

Vince & Grace were kind enough to offer to take the sword home, and ship it out to me, as the airports these days are frowning on this sort of a carry-on ;-) Thanks, guys !
I did buy one other little knife at the show, a Lynn Dawson, but I'll ramble on about that one when it arrives!

So anyways ..... this was Mac's big buy at Vegas '05

That one are a really beauty, clean design, not over done, beautyful blade,
its have everything i like, perfect or "Lagom" in swedish, ready to use and have for a wallhanger,
a full hit, I am jealous on that one, Big Grin

Thanks for all the pictures, Mac! Did you just "happen" to get any other shots of those cute little brass-and-steel Highland Snaphaunce pistols next to the cool basket hilt??? Great looking sword, btw, and I would think WELL worth the price, if only for a really nice sword, whether original or not!

Mac, You Da Man! Those are great! Thanks! Now to pass these off to my "dealer", to help keep up my habit, LOL! (I might have to take up a life of crime to pay for for these toys, but I'll have to remember to only rob very old liquor stores with them...) The all-steel Highland pistols are very cool too... the percussion one's seem strange to me though!

Nice US Navy Remington Rolling Block rifle there too, BTW.
