It's possible that my Google fu is failing me, but I can't seem to find a list or count of all the vendel period helmets that have been found. I'm looking to settle a futile internet discussion on how common helmets were in this period, hoping you fine folk can assist.

Well, in the Royal burial mounds of Uppland, pretty common but that's no basis for an overall assessment.
Vendel XIV,I, XII
Valsgarde 5, 6,7, 8
So, 7 in total.
There are other helms from the same period in Swedish history.
Two from Broa, one from Ultuna.
Rather than just look at helmets, look at depictions of warriors on the pressblech.
