2015 Condor Naval cutlass
Hi has anyone seen the new naval cutlass is releasing for 2015? http://www.condortk.com/productos-detalle.php...&cat=3

I was looking to get one for some serious machete work and playing around with sabre drills. Regards the 'serious machette' part, does anyone have experience with the steel hardness and functionality of condors machette blades? Are they junk or durable?

You mean this one, Michael?

This one is copied after the 1917 Dutch naval cutlass, if I'm not mistaken.
Yes and also at 6.00 of this clip at the 2015 shot show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTIA3UJagJo
They make reference to it being more 'authentic sword' than the bush cutlass yet still having 'machete qualities' whatever that will mean.

I used to own a similar looking cold steel 1917cutlass with the fuller guard and though it looked good, what bricklike handling. The blade was admittedly nigh indestructible though. I decided I was going to junk it due to its handling, so used it for a full day clearing brush off about half a mile barbed wire fenceline. Couldn't kill the blade despite hitting dirt, wire, roots and rocks many times. The fittings are not as tough, it was rattling early on and the nut on the bottom of the handle fell off before the day was out.

Anyway I hope Condor has put some thought into this versions weight and handling. I have mailed them and waiting to hear back.
Condor have just added the spec for the blade

BLADE MATERIAL: 1075 HIGH CARBON STEEL
BLADE FINISH: EPOXY BLACK POWDER COATING
HANDLE: HARDWOOD
SHEATH: LEATHER
BLADE LENGTH: 24"
OAL: 29 1/4"
THICKNESS: 3mm
WEIGHT: 1.89 Lbs

Its a few ounces heavier than their bush cutlass( which is a very light blade) but still a few ounces lighter than the cold steel 1917 (which is a brick to handle). They may have hit a home run with these specs.
