It's a replica Medieval sword, and not very old. Looks like the maker started with a bar, ground edges on the blade portion, left it as-is for most of the tang, and ground the end of the tang to fit the pommel. Pommel and guard look welded on. Would be quite strong construction, and might make a good stage sword if the steel is suitable. How sharp/thin are the edges? If they're quite thick, it might be a stage sword. Otherwise, costume/decorative.

It's quite short. To make it lighter and easier to wear, or a costume sword for a child?
Looks like a Starfire sword. They make swords for stage and steel combat.
It's a starfire, no doubt about that. Our stage combat group owns about two dozen of them.
Thank you for your assistance!
