Hey!

So, I have this new Sallet. It fits rather well, except on the sides - which makes the helm shake if I turn my head.

Is it supposed to be like that?

Or what can I add or do to improve the fit?

I would consider replacing the lining / padding with something like this:

What you have there is a simple but very modern and anachronistic 'spider' style liner. As well as its limited ability to work when new it will also stretch over time and cause continual problems.

As Radovan has posted, the best option is a nice padded liner that's adjustable in the crown. Foam rubber does compact and get a bit crumbly over time and althoughg its different horses for different courses I prefer some nice linen and cotton wadding around my head any time. Silk if its a posh helmet of course.
