What type of Oakshott sword classification, would best shine in these attacks in these environments?
What kind of old world sword would take it's place right along side the machete if it were available like the machete?
Personal preference for me would be the Type XV and old world Maciejowski chopper

I think something like the A&A Town Guard would be the better choice... Its long enough to have a reach advantage vs a machete, and not to long to be unusable in close quarters, also the hilt gives a lot better protection that I'd gladly take... P. D. No, that's actually not the correct answer.
There were old world swords that make a lot more sense to use now than others.
Don't take that as a rude comment either, I just firmly believe you are wrong, absolutely no offense intended.
For this day and age, I strongly believe that if one were to use a sword against someone, the best kind of sword would be 1 handed, light, and a dedicated cutter.
Something along that category would be preferred if for some reason, swords became a chosen weapon again.

Obviously there are sword better suited againist certain types of targets than others, by what I think he is saying is that if a person was given choice between something they have large difference in training, one they know the shortcomings and attributes and how to use them quite well, and one they don't they would be better served the weapon which they have honed skilled with than a weapon they have much less practice with.
why exactly is everyone flat out ignoring the rapier.
the rapier was, i believed initially designed to be a civilian sword, suited to urban environments, the design had to make some sense at least otherwise it wouldnt have been used.
today theyre is an absence of armour just like then, clothing is often even THINNER than before. the only thin g that id say might be a problem, is perhaps that stab wounds are perhaps easier to treat nowdays

Yeah that's what I meant.
If you give a Sikh warrior the choice between a Tulwar and a longsword than he will probably chose the Tulwar because the other sword looks somewhat alien to him. And like the guy above me said, don't forget the rapier. I doubt many people would pick the sword first but in a one on one situation is good. However every day carry might come off as a bit weird to most people.
